We saw no cows, but we had cheese and a gripping race so we were not in the least bit disappointed. Cowntador attacked and attacked and attacked and was awarded most combative as a result. Also “most improved”, but he might have missed out on the Congeniality award.

Cowbell had a mechanical, switched bikes and goes into tonight’s time trial in third place with the heavy burden of a country full of expectations riding on him. A Frenchman, Pierre Rolland, finally won a stage on the same day that his compatriot lost the yellow jersey. He also takes the white jersey. Sammy Sanchez continued to stick to Contador like glue, this time taking the King of the Mountains jersey for his trouble. Twitter was so fast and furious that some of us were put in the naughty corner, gagged for 30 minutes or so while our limits were reset. The quick-thinking Essjaymoo set up a backup account, LesVaches1, (which might come in handy tonight!).
I’ll leave you with some images of cattle on the Alpe d’Huez, supplied by cowrespondent Chickasmith (check out his YouTube site!).
