Vuelta Fantasy League – results

Image: La Vuelta

La Vuelta 2013 is over and Chris Horner will probably retain the record as the oldest winner of a Grand Tour for many years to come… unless his exploits really do inspire the MAMILs to take it up a notch.

In the #LVDL Fantasy League, Team RadioSchleck led pretty much from start to finish. Congratulations, Angi, on putting together such a dominant team. The Lanterne Rouge was more hotly contested, with a number of teams vying for the prize. In the end it was Andrea’s team, Flapjack Corncakes, that took the honours. Given the amount of time in the virtual saddle, I hope the Udderly Smooth Chamois Cream comes in handy.

Thanks, too, to Buttered Frog for keeping the stats on the straight and narrow when the official site went a little off piste.

The last word goes to the red jersey winner. Enjoy. The only thing missing from this is “Be excellent to each other… Party on, dudes!”.

Fantasy League – we have a winner

Is it really just a week since we were sweating by the Arc de Triomphe, waiting for the Tour caravan to pass by? Seems like half a world away… I am back in Melbourne, listening to the sound of rain on the roof and wishing that  I’d arranged for the heater repair guy to come in before we went away. I’ve also finally had time to sit down and look at the final podium of the LVDT Fantasy League.

Winning the Giro didn’t slow team Deuxbieres down, much, with another strong performance here, finishing third in the competition. Team #Hashtag – new to our league – finished second. The winner? Enrico 666. Congratulations, and drop me an email at lesvachesdutour at gmail dot com to organise your prize!

The Frog family has participated in previous leagues with mixed results. Mme Frog won last year’s Vuelta and M Frog took out the Lanterne Rouge in the Giro. Who does Bébé Frog take after? Well, the Lanterne Rouge went to… Où Est Mon Bidon!

Thanks to all who took part this year. There’ll be another game happening for the Vuelta, so keep an eye on the official site for the team announcements and this site for information on how to play.

Tour de France: fantasy league

Before you tell me that Fabs isn't riding this year, I'll remind you that this is Fantasy Cycling.

With 13 days to go until the 2013 edition of Le Tour kicks off, this might just be the time to test your luck with a fantasy cycling team. Once again, Velogames has a competition up and running, with prizes for the overall winner, podium placings and stage winners. You can also join the Les Vaches du Tour mini-league – code 15165543. The overall winner of the league will get a cows t-shirt of their choice.  If the number 13 treats you particularly shabbily and you end up as Lanterne Rouge, some Udderly Smooth chamois cream might salve your wounded pride.

Le mucche del Giro – fantasy league

It’s nearly Giro time! We’ll see if Sir Brad can match his performance to his fightin’ words this week and lock in the first of his Grand Tour Double. We’ll see if  Cowbell Evans’ gamble pays off (but I’ll be secretly hoping that he keeps some in reserve for the Tour!). And we certainly won’t be able to help seeing the giallo-fluo of Vini Fantini doing all they can to get Santambrogio a win.

It’ll be difficult to resist the temptation to carbo-load with all the inspiration that Italian cuisine offers, particularly as temperatures in the southern hemisphere start to cool. Italian cheeses and charcuterie should keep your tour-de-snack platters filled; don’t forget the espresso if the wines threaten to send you to sleep.

If you need something else to keep you interested, join the LVDG fantasy league. Go to and register a team, then join mini-league 30234852. There’s a special Giro edition of our t-shirt for the winner; the lanterne rouge will stay comfy on the bike with some Udderly Smooth chamois cream.

Check the right sidebar for daily updates on the league standings.

After the Milan-San Remo, the current LVDC podium looks like this:

PW2013                 124

Meowmaniacs       77

Wheeee!                 75

Don’t forget – 24 transfers are allowed over the course of the series, although it’s going to be hard to assess the strength of teams based on the freak conditions of the first race…

Fantasy League: results

Well, it’s all over! Thanks to those members of Team Vaches who joined the “Les Vaches du Tour” fantasy league. Congrat-moo-lations go to the Directeur Sportif of Make Some Noise, our winning team with 2094 points. Thanks also to Fractal Peanut Noir for keeping Moooooving Right Along company in the Lanterne Rouge.

Is Make Some Noise your team? If so, send me an email so we can talk prize choice.

Until next year…

Allez Les Vaches!
